This is the first event of our cluster Olympics event, which will see athletes from 14 schools come together to compete in a series of events covering all sports. Proceedings will be reported on by a team of 40 P7 Press Officers who will use their journalistic prowess to give the entire school community live updates on the event. We are grateful for Bank of Scotland’s support of this endeavour.</p>

Following this orders can be placed by either returning the form to the primary school office with payment for delivery to the school in June or for home delivery at http://www.logoxpres-schoolwear.co.uk</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dear Parent/Carer,</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>S3 AWARE Work Experience Programme 2012</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong>I am writing to inform you that the S3 AWARE Work Experience Programme will run from Monday 7<sup>th</sup> – Friday 25<sup>th</sup> May 2012.</p>
<p>Your child will be offered the opportunity to experience the world of work for one week and will attend their placement on the dates as outlined below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Week 1 (Monday 7<sup>th</sup> – Friday 11<sup>th</sup> May) <strong>3A1, 3B2, 3C3, 3D4</strong></li>
<li>Week 2 (Monday 14<sup>th</sup> – Friday 18<sup>th</sup> May) <strong>3D5, 3A6, 3C7, 3B8</strong></li>
<li>Week 3 (Monday 21<sup>st</sup> – Friday 25<sup>th</sup> May)<strong> </strong><strong>3A9, 3B10, 3C11, 3D12</strong></li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Your child will have the opportunity to choose a work placement, arranged by Fife Council, during PSE in the week beginning Monday 19<sup>th</sup> March.  Although Fife Council will offer a broad range of placements in businesses across the Dunfermline area, these will be picked by pupils on a first come first served basis and your child is strongly encouraged to arrange their own private placement.  Private work placement forms are available from Mr Sinclair, Mr Fraser, or your child’s guidance teacher or can be downloaded from the school website <a href="http://www.qahs.org.uk" target="_blank">www.qahs.org.uk</a>.</p>
<p>Should your child wish to arrange their own private placement out with the range offered by Fife Council, they must ensure that the following guidelines are adhered to:</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Your child may pick either a placement offered by the school or one privately arranged – not both.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Where possible, the placement should take place during the allocated dates as above.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Completed private placement forms <strong>must</strong> be submitted to the school office no later than Monday 16<sup>th</sup> April 2012 to enable relevant checks to be made.  No private placement forms will be accepted after this date.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> The organisation offering a placement must have appropriate insurance in place.  A copy of their employers’ liability insurance certificate <strong>must </strong>be appended to the completed private placement form.  If the organisation providing a placement does not have the appropriate insurance in place then the placement will not be sanctioned by the school or Fife Council.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> It is important that pupils understand that the work experience programme is an enhancement in educational terms rather than a right.  Should the need arise then the school, working in partnership with parents and carers, will decide whether a pupil does or does not go on a work placement.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Guidance staff will be covering “the world of work” in PSE classes in the build up to work placements and issues covered will include health and safety, working with others, careers and further/higher education.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Your child must remember that they will be representing Queen Anne High School whilst on placement and that the highest standards of behaviour and attitude are expected at all times. We appreciate your ongoing support in reinforcing this important message at home.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Work placements play an important role in nurturing and enhancing skills for life, work and learning and I hope that your child finds it an informative and rewarding experience.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">At the recent praise award ceremonies, 1126 pupils received certificates in recognition of their effort and application in classes and contribution to the positive ethos of the school. It was a pleasure to see so many parents and carers at the ceremonies throughout the week to share the success of our youngsters. Group photographs are now available and are on display for each year group in their concourse areas.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Photos are available to order from the school office upon payment of £3. Cheques should be made payable to “Queen Anne High School”. The proofs are numbered and pupils should clearly state which photo is required. The photo number is displayed in the title in the photos shown below.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>S2 into S3 Subject Choice Process</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This S2 into S3 Subject Information booklet has been developed to provide an overview of all the available courses available in S3. It offers advice in order to assist pupils in making appropriate and well-informed subject choices as they continue with their broad general education under Curriculum for Excellence.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Subject Information Booklet also contains an overview of the subject choice process as well as detailed information on subjects, what your child will learn and why, how they will learn, which skills they will develop and how they will be assessed.  Information on progression from S3 into the Senior Phase (S4 and beyond) is also given.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Please read the Subject Information Booklet carefully. In addition to using this booklet to make subject choices, Guidance teachers will meet with pupils to discuss the subject choice process.  It is also important that Parents/Carers are involved in assisting to make subject choices.  Information provided in S2 Reports will help inform this process.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Where appropriate, Guidance staff will contact parents/carers to discuss and agree final subject choices.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A copy of the Subject Choice Sheet is provided at the end of the Subject Information Booklet as well as separately.  Hard copies will be issued to pupils in due course.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Following the S2 Parents’ Evening, Subject Choice Forms should be returned by Friday 16<sup>th</sup> March 2012</strong>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">On 1<sup>st</sup> February 2012 Fife Council launched a new Parentwise survey. This is the first survey of its kind inFife and its purpose is to find out parental views on their child/children’s experiences in nursery or school. Many parents and staff working in education have helped to shape the survey questions so that they reflect the issues that are most important to parents.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"> All Fife nurseries and schools will use Parentwise as one of a range of ways of consulting with parents. The surveys will be confidential in that no names will be asked for but the collective responses will be used to identify school strengths and areas for development. This will inform school improvement planning and will also provide very valuable information about school experiences across Fife. Nurseries and schools will share the results of the survey once they have received their individual survey report in June 2012. TheFifewide results will be published on the Fife Direct website.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"> <strong>All parents and carers are encouraged to complete the survey before the end of March 2012</strong>. Parentwise is an online survey that can be easily accessed from home, the public library, etc. If required the school can provide the opportunity for parents to complete the survey in school. Paper copies of the survey can also be made available on request.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"> Alongside the Parentwise survey, a very similar survey will be taking place in mainstream schools for pupils in P4-7 and a sample of S1-6. The Pupilwise survey will be conducted in schools in order to gather the views of pupils on their experiences in school.  The results will be used and shared in the same way as the Parentwise survey. In the coming months the Pupilwise survey will be further developed to include younger children and children with additional support needs.</p>
