S1 – S3 Announcements

Lockers

All lockers in Erskine (S1), Denmark (S2) and Carnegie (S3) are to be emptied during PSE classes next week.  S3 pupils who are on work experience next week should ensure lockers are emptied by Friday of this week and keys handed to the office in a clearly marked envelope with your name, registration class, locker number and the 5 digit key number.  Any pupil who has lost a key should pay £5 for a replacement at the office.  All lockers should be emptied and keys returned by Friday 25 May to allow for cleaning before the change of timetable.  Keys for lockers in your new year group concourse areas will be issued after the start of the new timetable in June.

S3 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh

MEETING  -  Today at 1.30 in Mr Low’s room for practice expedition de-brief and planning for next weeks qualifying expedition.

On Friday some photographs and a document were removed from a carrier bag left in the S3 crush area. These items were of significant sentimental value and the owner would appreciate their return. If you know anything about the loss of these items or there whereabouts please see Mr Hamilton as soon as possible.

SOSCA Tests

The first set of catch-up sessions for missed SOSCA tests will take place today. You should have received a note in registration if you have not yet taken your test.

There will be an athletics club every Wednesday after school to select a team for the Fife Athletics on June 12.  It is open to everyone, but first years in particular, please come along, particularly if you competed last year for your old school.

Royal Highland Show Visit

The names of the S1 pupils who have a place on the above trip are displayed on Geography Department classroom doors.  There is one reserve place which was drawn out of a hat. Participants must collect a Health Consent form from Miss Stenhouse or Mr Nicol asap.  Payment of £7.50 should be made to the office from May 17 onwards.

A collection of old or unloved football tops continues for the school visit to The Gambia in June.  So far 12 tops have been donated, including Alloa, Cheltenham and Barcelona.  If you think you can contribute please see Mr Low.  In return for a top I’ll get you a photo of your top with it’s new owner.

Junior Debating Club

There will be a meeting this Tuesday lunchtime (1.20 pm in Social 8 ) for anyone interested in taking part in the ESU Junior Speech forum competition (you have to be able to speak for 4-5 minutes on an assigned topic).

Today will be the last day for entries into the team Championships to give me time to get the forms sent away.  The competition will take place on Wednesday 13^th June at the Commonwealth.  Entries are for 4×50 Freestyle or Medley.

Prefect Duties

Once the senior pupils are on study leave the duties normally carried out by prefects will be carried out by a group of S3 pupils. This means that at break and lunch times in the dining room and around the school building the S3 Monitors will be asked to assist with the lunchtime queuing system and to monitor the corridors. The S3 Monitors have started their duties this week.

 These S3 pupils have all volunteered to give up their time to assist in the smooth running of the school and they have been given the authority to carry out these duties.  All pupils are expected to cooperate with the S3 Monitors and to follow the instructions they give you.

MyFife Cards

Pupils are reminded that My Fife cards are non-transferable and should only be used by the named person on the card.  Any abuse of the system will result in your My Fife card being withdrawn which will cause obvious problems for use of the dining hall facilities and bus travel.  Pupils who require a new My Fife card should purchase one at the school office today (£5).

You will receive a medical form and details about your placement before you are due to go out on placement.  These will be handed out during registration this week. The medical form must be completed and returned to school (put in reg folder or hand in to office) otherwise you will not be allowed to go out on placement.  Please see Mr Sinclair if there are any problems.
